Laois sawmills are recruiting a Health and Safety Manager. The ideal candidate will have a Health & Safety Degree coupled with 3+ years’ experience in a similar role.  With the support of the Production Manager, the Health & Safety Manager will oversee all aspects of Occupational Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Environmental responsibility’s.   Key Responsibilities for the job of Health & Safety Manager:   Ensure H&S management systems are implemented and maintained across the site  Managing the administration for the Health & Safety induction & training plans for all site personnel  Regularly review and assist the update Risk Assessments, Safe Operating Procedures and Safety Statements  Ensure that staff have all the relevant manuals and training certifications  Review sub-contractors' Safety Statements and Safety Compliance  Lead & promote a continuous improvement culture in relation to all health, safety and environmental work practices throughout the estate.  Identify areas of risk and develop risk assessments/measures to reduce and control risk.  Conduct audits, safety inspections and tool box talks  Investigate/report accidents and incidents on-site ensuring all relevant accident information  is correct for insurance purposes  Through innovation and  research challenge current practices, processes and systems, thus ensuring   industry best practice  Populate plant register check new machinery when it arrives on site- ensure GA1’s are valid and in date; ensure check sheets for operative are maintained.  Maintain compliance with environmental regulations on site  Implement company environmental policies and practices  Complete relevant tasks to fulfil the Environmental management system & IPC licence standard  requirements  Liaise with relevant staff completing environmental sampling & testing to ensure adherence to licence requirements & support where required.
